LENEXA, Kan. -- They're known as the MiniMe's of motorcycles -- smaller versions that are popular with both kids and adults, but Lenexa police said one such toy-like bike was to blame for a death in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.
The wreck happened Sept. 22 in an apartment complex parking lot at 95th and Quivira.
A 20-year-old pocket rocket driver lost control and slammed into a parked car.
The man didn't appear to be badly hurt, but he slipped into a coma and was pronounced dead Sunday night.
A skull fracture led to his death, officials said.
The miniature motorcycles are about knee high. They only travel about 30 to 35 miles per hour, but a Lenexa police officer said they were just as dangerous as full-size motorcycles.
The man, whose name police didn't release because his family hadn't been notified, was not wearing a helmet.
