power loss, car dies

ok, every once in a while while i'm driving, my car will just cut power, and if i push the gas in a little, it doesn't do anything, unless i push it to the floor. then it jumps hard, and my car lurches forward with the sudden power gain. it's almost like when you are about to run out of gas, only i'm on a full tank. if i let off the gas when that happens, then it also goes away.

i also am having problems with my idle. sometimes when i pull up to a light or put the car in neutral the idle speed goes too low and my car just shuts off. happens every now and then. :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

Do these cars have an idle control valve? might cause that... happens a lot on older Escorts.

How about your intake tube.. torn? might cause unmetered air to enter.

Check the idle adjustment screw on the TB for your idle problem.

hondas use MAP's not MAF's so there is no metered air.

sounds like ignition to me, check out your cap and rotor in your distributor maybe?

i recently had a huge problem and my car broke down in the Wendy's parking lot. it happened a couple months ago, and i had to get my car towed over to John Elway Honda to have it looked at. they fixed a bunch of stuff, but mainly my bad distributor, after i had replaced it with 2 others before that. (VATOzone sucks big time) anyways it costed about 320 dollars to get that fixed. i just did a tune up (ngk plugs and wires, oil change, fuel filter) so i have no idea what could be wrong. i've tried screwing in and unscrewing the screw on the tb, and it doesn't seem to do anything.

i had this problem before, and when my IAC valve went bad, i ended up having to replace my entire intake manifold. a friend of mine had to borrow my ecu, so for a couple of weeks, i was running the cx ecu. everything worked fine, but not as much power or vtec. but when i put the p28 back in, everything started F'ing up.

ok so i must get rid of that idea. most of the time that was the problem... ;)

Ah yes, well, that's what was wrong when my car was doing that. :)

to me it sounds like ignition sytem or fuel system. have you checked to make sure the FPR is working right?

Fuel Pressure Regulator right? can you educate me as to where that is? sorry, i have a buddy who usually helps me, i know a bit, but he's the one who usually helps me out and teaches me stuff.

ok today, i was at the ATM when all of a sudden my car threw a CEL. when we got home, i checked it and it threw a 43 (fuel supply system) and a 22 (vtec pressure switch). ok i know about the vtec code, cause i don't have the pin for my ecu yet, but what would make the 43 show?

must be a fuel problem then eh? :p

the fuel pressure regulator is #6.

holy shit my car is doing the same thing right now. Someone figure out what is wrong!! I was told to that it could be the o2 sensor. I just put a new clutch and flywheel in my car and maybe i hit the wire pulling an axle or something. but yeah my car does the same thing. just every once and awhile though.

yeah it's not like it does it all the time, but i'm beggining to think it may be a bad ecu. 90accordh22 used my ecu for a couple weeks to fire up the H22A in his accord. it ran fine in his car, but mine keeps fucking up. i'm getting pissed

See mine just started doing it randomly. but like when it started to do it, i would usually be going like 50 - 60 down the highway or something, then i would just shut it off and turn it on and it would be fine. someone help us :p

I have an Accord 89 and when I turn the key my Radio works but when I start it up the radio cuts off and doesn't want to start again. The same with the A/C. But the lights work fine. Does anyone have any suggestions for setting it up. Right now everything is stock. :(

no offense, but how does your post pertain to my problem? it has nothing to do with an idle problem, or a power loss/ fuel cut-out. sorry Bro, but you might want to post a new thread.
