problem

i have a 97 base lude wen i go to open it up its hard to get in to 3rd gear some times and always grinds in 5th. wat could be the problem? n about how much would you say it'll take to fix?

most transmissions shops will do a free "No Touch" analysis, and the one that i go to will diagnose (meaning open the housing) for $100 bucks. Might just be syncros which isnt too bad.

yep..either your not putting the clutch in enough or the syncros are shot,,thats usually what the grinding is
