Im pulling my D16y7 from my 98 coupe, Ive been told that i cant pull the motor without separating the trans first. I wanna know if i dont have to do that and can just disconnect all hoses, belts, mounts etc.. and pull it out the top. Thanks

yes u can but u have to take off the crank pulley off and the side mount but yes ur can take it out and leaving the tranny there

heh, I find it easier to drop everything including the tranny at once and from underneath, not through the top.

Yup, you can remove it all as one unit- it's easier. It's also definitely easier as Chaos325 said- drop the engine out of the bottom of the car. If you don't have a lift or you're not willing to lift the front end of your car with the hoist though, just take it out through the top. It's not that hard.
