Depends on what it needs, or what you want to put into it.

You're looking at $1500+ for a decent rebuild.

If you are just going to build it up for shits and giggles, go ahead. Especially if the motor is still good in your car. Later down the road if you chose to sell it you could probably get a good price on it. Or you would have a backup for your car in the event the CRVtec goes bad.

Is this going to be with the type R tranny, or just motor for motor?

I've read through this thread twice and I still don't understand what's going on here. What engine is going to be in your car when you trade it to him? The B16 or the B20-VTEC? Either way, it doesn't seem like that great of a deal if you're trading for a car with a trashed engine...

I was under the assumption it was just and engine for an engine. Maybe I misunderstood it. I got the impression that the kid is going to trade the B16 for the Type R that comes out of his buddies car, and the OP leaves his CRVtec in his current car.

the way i see it is i get my dream motor for the price like a quarter of the price, the motor isn't that bad i think its the piston ring. but might as well just say fuck it and rebuild it never know when something else is gonna take a shit

Wow. You're better than most of the engine builders that I've ever spoken to.

Trade for the puppie right now. Then you can teach it how to get a good ring-seal.

ITR motors are HAND built to take abuse. You gotta be one of the worst drivers ever for an ITR motor to start shitting the bed...

Not the worst, just the stupidest.

    12000 rpm rev-limit?

    600cc/min injectors?

    JB Weld Valvetrain Treatment?
