rear lights screwed up!

hei guys i am just finishing putting together my little toy and i have everything hooked up but the lights for reverse stay on except for when i put it in reverse then they go off just the opposite of what they should do? and my brake lights don´t work at all. all other lights work as they should! has anybody had a similar problem?

i have a haynes manual and i´ve read it over and over and can´t find the problem. it must be something small that i´m overseeing
