Came from delsolfast@ sbcglobal.net tried to open, but virus software caught it. Just thought I would throw this out, since it is from a Honda related email, so it looks innocent, like something any of us could get from a collegue(sp).

Virus is W32.Netsky.B@mm

Thanks for the info, I know that I have been having a lot of bad luck with virus' as of late, so I really appreciate it.

netsky has been out for months now... and its probably spoofed.

get a good email client (like mozilla thunderbird)
and a virus scanner (like trend micro PC cillin)

and forget about it

I have Norton for my virus scanner, and hasn't picked anything up yet, but I can't get rid of this spyware. For example, everytime I get a link from Yahoo messanger it takes me to some porno site. Every time I turn on my computer, it pops up a porn page, before I even open up my browser, and every time I use IE a search bar shows up on the bottom of my screen. Only through IE, maybe I should just delete IE now that I have mozilla or should I keep IE just in case?

its nearly impossible to delete IE.
it CAN be done, but for a non-savy folk like yourself, i wouldn't recommend it. its built into windows too much. there's no add/remove programs icon for IE. lol

I say, save your shit to cd, formatthebitch.com, and use IE once- to DL mozilla, and then never open it again.

I don't have anything of importance on my PC I don't use it for work or anything just fun mostly, so I really have no saving to do. Also is that really a webpage that will fix my PC or are you just bullshitting me?

No. He's saying to nuke your entire machine, then start over.

If you're having spyware issues, do a search on Spybot 1.2 or 1.3 search and destroy, it will get the majority of spyware. and there is always ad-aware

I have three different programs, and it looks like it erases everything, but the second I open IE to check it is still there. Or even when I turn on my cpu, a porn page pops right up, I don't even touch the mouse and it pops right up.

welcome to IE.

make sure you have you windows/office and any other cd you may need...

boot from the XP disc, format and re-install.

use IE to go to mozilla.org.
get 1.7b
install
never use IE again
never have spyware again.
never use outlook or express
go to mozilla.org and get thunderbird
need a calendar system? get sunbird- you guessed where.

By formatting it do you mean re-installing everything, because as you can tell I am retarded when it comes to this stuff.

WoooWoooo Firefox supports the autoscoll when you click the roller, unlike Mozilla, and it blocks more pop ups, even the ones from here :).

Also, I emailed the guy that sent me the virus email, he has some virus that's sending them out via his own email serves.

By format, he means getting a 3.5" bootable disk, erasing all sectors of the hard drive to zero, and re-install windows. I have had to do this about 4 times since Jan...I won't have to do it for a while, tho.

no, its not.

the XP CD is an ElTorito, or BOOTABLE.

put it in, turn on, wahla. you boot to the cd.

You can also buy a giant bulk eraser from Radio Crack for a few bucks, turn it on, then wave it all over your hard drive.
