The sources i've been considering, based only on which companies actually carry sell the CA motor are shown below- I'm obviously not buying a honda motor, but a lot of these companies also sell honda motors, so I'm hoping some of you have experience dealing with them-

you're going to do the ca18det? nice :) good choice. i'd do it over the SR as well.

- they link to us for some of their how-tos :)
other than that, i don't know of anyone who's dealt with them.

- heard some good and some bad. i'd leave them for a back-up choice.

1000 canadian is a fucking steal.
you can get harnesses and ecu's on ebay and shit

yeah i did, but that dude emailed me back and wanted $1800 for the motor, plus $650 for shipping- frankly, i can get an sr20 for less than that

yeah, ca18det is my decision- it's an overall better motor than the sr20 imo, it's cheaper, and with the mods i have planned it will just as fast anyway- you said you wanted to come down for teh sr20 swap, still want in ever though it's a ca18? lol

buy it for the truck :) pimp.

the block is cast iron like the RBs and the head is not gay and will rocker-out like the SR will. yeah, so it makes 40 hp less in stock form.
throw away the dinky t25, get some injectors, and managemetnt, and 400 whp is yours.

Dang, that IS a lot. They probably keep their prices down on the popular motors by bumping the prices on the less popular ones.

So it's better than the SR20?

depends on who you talk to- some claim the iron blocked ca18 has coolant ports that are too small and eventually clog with rust over time- I've also heard that it "won't" make the power the sr20 can-

basically it's bs, it's a great motor even better imo than the sr20 because it doesn't have rocker arm issues and still has a beefy bottom end, turbo friendly compression and oil squirters

It just doesn't get enough recognition because it wasn't mentioned in The fast and the furious :p

SR20 has some design issues (rocker arms), and the CA18 will make just as much power. Plus the engine swap is cheaper.
