well no dragging frame for you....lol your start on the frame is badass bro. this truck is gonna be sic as hell when done. have you got a rendering done yet?

Tank frame + A/C compressor <-> Bad ass + No messy bed.

Ya. I will be using two Viair 450s most likely or AZs. Whatever I can afford.

Haha, well I'm plating the upper and underside to blend it with the factory frame so I definitely WILL be dragging all over the place lololol

Are you chopping the roof?

Nopers. New windshield = $

Finished the rear rails:

They will become one with the frame on Monday. More to come soon.

yea.. no shit.. i was gonna say the same thing..

Hopefully within 6 months.

Keep in mind that this big kind of stuff goes quickly.

Once the chassis and drivetrain are buttoned up, the body will go back on and then fuck. I still have to do the front clip, update the braking system, get a fuel cell and pump and run my fuel lines, I have to do everything for the air system like mount compressors and valves and plumb and wire everything...

Then there's steering, pedals, dash, the fuckin ass ton of body mods and repairs, blasting, painting, lighting, updating the HVAC, making an interior, paint...

It's the little things that kill and really slow a project down. :(

the rear back half your building is SIC! clean as hell

you gonna have it ready by show season it sounds like. what show do you plan on debuting it at?

Oh boy I haven't even thought twice about it.

I live an hour North of LA so there should be something good in the area. Although, with all the high caliber shops, trucks like mine don't debut...they just roll in, park, and join the masses :(

but you are doing the work yourself where-as someone is paying a shop to do work on their truck....

wtf? this thing isn't done yet? i haven't checked this thread in about 4 hours. get back to work.

j/k this is a great thread. i wish i could fabricate like this.

Haha. I know I'm such a lazy asshole.

Anyway *UPDATE* time!

In pursuit of my IFS conversion, I am picking up a '93 F-150 tomorrow. It has no bed, no motor/trans, and no seat.

What it does have though is an intact front end, a 3 pedal assembly, HVAC controls and wiring, and other various parts.

It is an I beam front end, which, while not ideal, will work and be easy to set up, AND, my 351 will bolt right in with no modification, making motor mounts one less thing I have to create.

By far the best part of this news is that I am only paying $150 for the whole thing, and, to make it even BETTER, I sold the old 292 Y Block that came out of the truck for $150 this morning. So as far as I am concerned, this one is a freebie

I win

update

Got the F150 and tore it down today.

I took the A/C parts, heater box, blower motor etc. as well as the master cylinder and booster for use in the F100. I couldn't believe how clean this truck was for a '90:

I'm going to cut out this window frame, section and shape it to fit the F100 body lines, then french it in so I can have a nice big flat rear glass. The factory rear window is so fucking small and ugly. This will be a major upgrade:

So I pulled the cab and cleaned all the factory bullshit off the front clip...stuff like coil perches, body mounts, core support mount etc.:

And then I severed ties with other 3/4 of the frame:

I should have an aired rolling chassis in a month...

Oh ya and the guy left the two catalytics on it so I cut those off and sold them to the scrap guy for $100. I win again.

Haha I know. I might even try to sell the 8.8 posi rear end that was in it.

yea.. sell anything ur not using and recycle the left over metal.. should get a little more $$ towards the build

This is one sic build dude I give you props I love these trucks. I will be keeping up this build till your done. My aunts husband has a 55 or 56 f100 with a 429 big block in it painted flat black and I so want his truck. He takes it to tennessee and some other states and wins all the shows and it sit stock. So I think you should do a lot better with all the shit your doing. Keep up the good work and that air tank in the frame is the shit....

*UPDATE*

Finished up capping the rails and welding in the bungs for the air. There is one 3/8" for the compressor lead and two 1/2". One on each side for the front and rear bag. Speaking of which I ordered four Airlift 2600s. They should be in this week.

Note: ^tacked, not finish welded. My friend wanted to practice his TIG so I let him weld the bungs in. They came out pretty great.^

Next I clamped the first rail in place and strung a plumb line so I could measure for the axle center line. It came in 1/4" short from my reference point, which is perfect but would take too long to explain why so just trust me:

After I welded the first rail in I clamped up the other, checked all my distances, and tacked in some 2x3 rectangle as temporary bracing.

So the rear section is attached. I still need to make a nice transition between the old frame section and the new. But for now, I'm sure you get the idea:

Next order of biz is getting the front clip squared away, four link, plumbing, and wheels so I can have a roller...this thing is getting heavy.
