Rmp gauge/engine "surging idle"...god help me

Hey you guys. After doing an engine swap, i was soooo happy that it worked, until i let it idle for about 10 second to notice the Engines rmp gauge "yaws", (moves from like 1gs to like 2gs). Now, from what i know from previous experience, it must be a vacuum leak, (i dont see any open "tubes"). or it could be the IACV, (which i highly doubt because it worked fine before. i just dont know what to do you guys. i am going crazy. I did find on the intake manifold a "taller black box that says DENSO on it" had a hole for a tube. now the question is does anyone know what it does? its got a plug on it, so it is a sensor and its on the intake manifold on a 1996-1998 civic obd2 non ex manifold. IF anyone could tell me what that sensor does and where that tube that should be on the back of it goes, ill so appreciate it. its off to the passage side of the throttle body and it stand tall. or if anyone else could please help me and tell me what else could make the engine yaw that would be GREAT. please, if you know what i am talking about, please help me. thank you so much, dave

Yaw is a rotational direction in relation to flight. If you are experiencing yaw you must depress the rudder pedal in the oppisite direction of yaw you are experiencing.

As for the surging idle I am not sure. Try searching surging idle it might get you some results.

Ok, surging ide. I had this problem in my hatch when I did an LS swap. It turned out to be the IACV. Not that it was bad, just needed a 3-2 wire conversion. What swap did you do? Give me that information and I can probably give you a good idea of what to start with.

I was gonna say a leak in the intake manifold.

btw its R.P.M. gauge. not Rmp. RPM stands for Rotations Per Minute.

matt, thanks for NOT pointing out my typing in-perfections like SOME PLP. ahahah jk. Anyways i put an 92-95 1.5l engine in my 1997 civic. i set the engine all up for obd2 though, using an obd2 intake and harness. the engine are generally the same thing. ii also heard (due to the Iacv) air bubbles in my radiator lines could cause such a thing. i am still stumped the that sensor is and where that tube goes, i blocked it off for now with a screw. tommorrow i am going to try to redo my whole intake manifold and find out Wtf is happening....i just really knew where that tube was supposed to go...

do you have a vacuum guage to check if you are loosing vacuum? or i know of some diagnostic tool that makes a sort of smoke, and if there is a leak it will suck up the smoke and you can find where the leak is coming from. (if that makes sense)

oh and i wouldn't have corrected you if you misspelled it once but you did it twice so i thought you didn't know. lol

holy crap you guys! was just about ready to roll up a fatty and blow it into my intake manifold, (ahahah another joke...sorry) and instead, i checked the radiator fluild and it was pretty empty :(. so i added more in, (go figure! :O ) AND LOW AND BEHOLD! the surging stopped....so i called my grandmother in Dallas texas and finally called the law suit off, let me tell you, my attorney almost crapped his pants...SO i was all hyped up and i was tightening a bolt to my spindle, the engine swap was a success,,,and SNAP  i tightend the bolt too much and it broke the stud off...i almost crapped my pants....:locked2:
