So, I have a couple of gift certificates to Crutchfield, and I am looking at both standard upgrades as well as component systems for the S2K....Here is what I have to work with:

I have a Pioneer MP3 Player in there right now...Mediocre. The worst is that if you put in an aftermarket CD Player in your car, you lose the bad-ass audio controls by the steering wheel unless you buy an adapter for it (another 80-100 bucks.)

Any thoughts, comments on what I should get? I am clueless when it comes to speakers, but I know I want crisp, clear sounds--Bass is not a factor as much as clarity and quality is.

The most expensive Polk set you're comfortable buying.

For just a coaxial, go Pioneer D161R. They are a fantastic set of speakers that a local shop uses in their SQ car in kickpods, and they are quite capable.

Hell no on the first Kenwoods

Sure on the BAs

Maybe on the Alpine S

YES YES on the Polk db- I had these in my Civic, and they were badass

Yes on the BA SX60

YES YES on the Polk MM

High end Polks are SMOOTH. Really really smooth.

Just FYI- I went with a set of JL Audio VR components. They're totally badass. Awesome SQ, and plenty of composure to hold veyr loud and very clean with the top down at 100+. You can't buy them from Crutchfield though.
