so yeah. i searched and couldn't find an already existing thread...and well i think it's fun to see/hear about first cars.

just in case i'm not alone, here's my full auto-biography (get it?) :D heads up, my lil bro kinda always ended up in my car shots.

first car: i absolutely loved it: '80 celica gt 5spd limited ed. w/fucking louvres! loved to tear up the muddy ditch roads in this and then spend saturdays washing it. passengers had to hold their door closed though, and the hatch leaked so it smelled pretty mildewonderful. i'd buy this car again if i could find it in no-rust shape. i still think it's a sexy beast ;). retired at 220k.

2nd: eh, 90 escort gt 5spd with chronic power steering pump issues. great damn stereo though. and the darkest tint i've ever had. this one liked to completely catch air on this one hill on the outskirts of town. anyone who's been up behind "a' mtn in the foothills knows the one. yeah i smashed my sunglasses on the roof of the car (they were on top of my head). rock! i'd give the suspension a . sold back to the stealership after 3 yrs of damn near monthly power steering pump replacement.

3rd: my battle tank, the '86 honda accord lxi 5spd complete w/memories of my bro upchucking orange sherbet in the back seat on a summer roadtrip. i killed a washing machine at 80mph in this thing, the dent on the dside door is from a big tree that saved me from a rollover (damn cheerleader pulled out in front of me and i ended up on a circus ride), the driver's doorhandle fell off shortly after this picture (as did the handles on several of my friends' late 80s accords, wtf), and this car did 130mph for an hour straight across the new mexico desert, high noon. i felt like a bad ass :D. retired at 288k.

how i got around campus and avoided parking fees w/#3: capture the flag and other fun games on tues/thurs nights on nmsu campus ftw. i miss those days...

4th: the 2nd biggest mistake i ever bought, don't ever think you can bring a salvaged title from outta state into minnesota. that looks like an invitation to buttsecks for the MN DMV. i lost about $5k on this deal (had to ship it back to NM where it was unloaded for a lot less than i paid). friends called this one the flying toaster.

5th (borrowed a shot from the interwebs): this would be my biggest mistake ever, but it was at least fun to drive, whereby fun i mean heavy smooth ride w/heated leather seats. i was commuting a lot...it was ok for it, but too damn spendy. gave it back to the stealership at 56k. you can fit 4 drunk people in the trunk easily.

6th and favorite ever: dad bought this when i was 16 and i was pissed it wasn't for me. 10 yrs later i bought it off of him and thoroughly enjoyed it until some batshit MN driver failed to notice the painfully obvious bright yellow car waiting behind some other yahoos on the highway for someone to turn..this one's no more...:(. put to rest at 237k.

my 7th and current ride (though it has stock tails now, whew): couldn't really do without a rex after finally having my own for several years. it gets me by ;). rocking along at 242k.

my 'beater: yeah this is the one i just got the 'my carbon footprint is bigger than yours' bumpersticker for. i actually share this ride with a friend; i drive it in the winters to save my rex, and he drives it the rest of the time to haul his buddies up nort (said w/heavy midwest accent). best way to get a decent beater for cheapo, imho. 111k.

I couldn't possibly post up an "autobiography". Shit I couldn't even list them all. I lost count at 50 or so back in the turn of the century.

But I think it's funny we both owned Celicas, But whereas you had 1 I had 14.

Mostly 3 to 5 at one time.

I thought VW dispatched their goon squads to kill anyone that put a Honda hatch next to a VW hatch.

i'd love to see pics of yours. one of my best buds in HS had one too. his was royal blue, 81. we rocked our town..at least we thought we did :D. his had an all black interior, mine all white. he put a red dome light in and had some wickedly dark tint (easy to get by with in NM). i think he was going for eeeeevil.

I used to tint the domelights too... in 1991.

Well since I've joined this forum, I've had 2. A convertible and a 10th anniversary edition. I still have most of that car. (enough to make a replica). I have my motor that took 6 years to build, and I have YET to put it in anything.

I've NEVER had a white one. A friend of mine had a white one, but with black interior. Never had a white interior (That's really really really rare). By the way, your TEN edition is very rare (About 100 made)

I'm a member of the OCC (Old Celica's Club) for about 12 years now. My first one was a 1979 with over 350k miles on it, bad rust. I have ONE pic of it, and I'll scan it in. I have pics of the others in one way or another on old files on my old PC. I actually pushed a few aside to get the pic of my CRX and my Micra as seen in my CRX forum.

But I've owned things that I have no more pictures of too, several Camaro's / Firebirds (I am an F body fan), Monte Carlos, a load of Olds Cutlii (There is another for sale down the road from me that I'm drooling over) and even a WWII Dodge powerwagon personnel transport (Deuce and a half). The pictures that I got my CRX pic from included the tour of my street - when I lived on this street the whole street was lined up with my cars, 2 Celicas in the garage, 2 Celicas behind the house, etc. I had 12 cars and lived downtown.

My first car was the 79 Celica liftback, my second was a barely-ever running 67 Lincoln, going into a 78 Corolla SR5 Fujitsu TEN (-THE- US rally car), a few 2nd gen supras (12) a few third gens (3) a 4th gen, a TE27 Corolla, a few older Toyotas, 4 toyota trucks / 4runner, a Mustang, a few Sentras and NXs, 2 280Zs, 4 200SXs of various generations, a couple Pontiac TGPs, an 84 Vette... god the list goes on. People remind me of cars that I have no recollection of driving .

    1) 95 Ford Coutour: it was my dad's. I got it with 160k on it. He prolly changed the oil 5 times throughout its life. I drove it for 10k miles until it shot a rod out the block.

    2) 99 Civic Si: This baby was in my ricer days. It had bolt ons, coilovers, and sweet altezza tails I later painted black. I sold it to fund my current project.

i thought this was post your first car, not every fucking car you've ever owned??

my first car was a 1973 VW Super Beetle. gas line broke on it while i was driving it. it caught fire and was completly gutted. only thing "salvageable" was the front wheels and tires, front bumper and front license plate. the fire got so hot that the engine and back tires melted to the road.

yeah at the least, i wanna know about your first car. but i like seeing what people have driven, too. kinda tells a story. like when someone's first car is a mid 90's model, vs. an early 70s/80s model. and it's fun to see what cars we keep going back to. and yeah last, i just love lookin at cars. rock. thx for posting, guys! keep 'em coming.
