I have absoultely no idea how to take by knob off... the boot seems to be put into a little ring beneath it, and the knob won't turn without twisting the boot, I don't want to tear the boot, but I want to put my momo knob on anyone know how to take it off of a 2000 Si?

I wish it was that easy. I took off the center console just now to see wtf is up with it.

The ring on the shift lever is where the boot is rubber banded too, then the boot is put into a metal piece on the center console, so there's no way I can take that off without basically destroying the metal piece.

There's a metal ring that looks like it separates the boot holder and the knob itself, when you twist the knob tho the boot holder ring twists withit, twisting the boot. I can only get it to twist so far before the knob and ring won't twist separately anymore then it just ends up twisting the boot even further.

There's got to be a way that this damn thing comes off.

ok dude take the screws 2 each side out of the arm rest console. Then take 3 scres on each side off of the shifter console. Pull the armrest console back then lift up the shifter console. reach up in the book and you will feel a clip. pop if off and it will release the boot from the knob. I know it sounds crazy but thats what needs to be done.10 min job.

Ok... there wasn't any clip...there was a tie wrap holding the boot onto the little metal ring under the knob. I pulled the tie wrap off and pulled it up to reveal two clips holding the knob onto that metal ring, after those popped off i had to unscrew the knob, then i had to put everything back together and put on my MOMO knob. Looks good, i just need to find away to reattach the boot to the shift lever just under the knob so it looks semi stock.

I love this knob tho, it's more ergonomic and fits the contours of my hand better, which is why I loved it on the escort.
