I have a 2005 Accord EX 4cyl and am having a problem with the shift interlock system. The shifter is stuck in park, I must use the shift release to shift out of park.
I have already checked the brake switch and it is good.
I checked the shift release solenoid at the gear shift and it is good.
I thought the problem might be the throttle position sensor. I tested the output voltage of the tps and it is 0.5 volts closed and ~4.5 volts at WOT which I believe is the correct reading.
Now the strange thing is that if I unplug the throttle position sensor, the shift lock release works fine. As soon as I plug the tps in again, the shifter doesn't release again. Can anyone help? Thanks!
