I am looking at a 91 white w/ 300K miles on the body crx with the following mods:

b18c1 w/ 115k miles on the motor
- rebuild head with dual springs and upgraded retainers, 3 angle job
- 11.5 to 1 JE pistons, new bearings
YS1 cable tranny (ls grinds a bit in 3rd when driving it hard)
dc sports 4-1 header
thermal exhaust
aem cold air intake
Skunk2 intake manifold
lower on ebiach springs and tokico illumina shocks

the body has some light surface rust on the roof behind both rear wheel wells

5K / obro

What is this car worth / should I offer?

Nah, your paying 5k for a mildly built B18C1 with 115k on it, in a rusted chasis with 300k. I would keep looking.

the engine has high milage on it
but its been rebuilt/upgraded ... so now it kinda depends on the quality of work that was done... how many miles since it was rebuilt?

the chassis has retardedly high milage on it
the bushings, tie rods, etc etc are most likely shot, making the chasis slopy as fuck
and its rusting through... major body work is in the near future

the third gear synchros are shitting out on the tranny

how many miles on the suspension?

if you buy that car i can guarantee you will be putting a minimum of $2000 into it within 9 months

the chasis isnt worth shit
the tranny isnt worth shit
the engine is worth 3/4 of a shit

i personally wouldnt touch the fuckin thing
i might offer $2-3k for it just to take the engine and part out all the bullshit if i was confident i could off it all in a reasonably short ammount of time

Rule 1. Never buy a modified car.
Rule 2. Follow Rule 1.
Rule 3. If Rule 2 does not apply to you, see Rule 1.
Rule 4. Following these simple rules will ensure you obtain a car that will leave no doubt in your mind as to the competence of the builder.

Not just car, but engine. B is a prime example.

... why you shouldnt buy a modified engine.

theres nothing wrong with buying a modded car you just have to know what you're getting into.

I could have bought a 97ish loaded GSR with Fmax turbo kit for 8K about 2 years ago
the guy selling it was a great car guy and I trust his work in fact his wife was the primary driver of the car till it was sold.

I've also seen 92-95 civic coupes/hatches go for 2-4K with B16 or B181A/b/C swaps
as long as the work seems to be done well shit why not buy a modded car

now if you're paying 5K for a 91 rust bucket with a slighly worked engine... I would say RUN

yip stay away....to much money for a car with huge miles rust and who knows what other problems

my motor is fine. its my oem fuse box that was never touched that sucks

Oh, I thought the previous owner had nig-rigged the injectors or something along those lines :shrug2:

Post pictures of the car, go take a visual of the bushings, etc... you said

"light surface rust on teh roof/rear fenders..." does i go all the way through or no?

good luck

Id stay away... see if you can buy just then engine, then look for a shell.
