simple shift linkage question

I was wondering if a shfit linkage from a cable d-series will work fine for a hydro d-series tranny. I had to cut my to get the motor out of my civic DAMN PIN!

I don't believe so, but not because of the cable/hydro difference. 88-91 civics had shorter linkages than 92-up civics.
