lil update....

when the car goes into vtec around 6-8 k it misfires, the tach jumps and he car hesitates a little but seems to keep going.

so i bought bkr7e gapped them @ .035" and now it only does it around 7.5-8k.

i bought the new oil pan gasket, so ill be doing the change this saturday.

however i have one question.

the oil pan gasket has a flat side and a side with two raised lines that go around the entire gasket.
which side goes to the block?

AND i installed the shaved/polished valve cover & strut bar last night
also took some pics that ill post up tonight.

here are some pics of the bay & vband

yeah it sputters

i think its the rotor.
but when i got my free replacement from distributor king they put paint markings on the cap bolts . so i dont want to open it up before talking to them.

but the dont answer the phone.

ill be changing the oil pan gasket tonight.

i'm also going to try and see if the front brake calipers from my bosses 06 TL will fit on my brake swap.

thank you

so to day i came home
took the header off
took off the oil pan
sanded the oil pan flange a little
applied thin layer of honda bond [grey rtv]
put on gasket
cleaned bottom of block
applied thin layer of honda bond on block
waited a minute
installed oil pan
tightened bolts until i felt a little resistance
filled with oil
turned on car
got to temp
went for a ride
AND THE GOD DAMED OIL PAN IS LEAKING STILL!!!!

FUCK ME

what else can i do?

also painted the header with 1200 deg paint and it still smoked and peeled off

I wouldn't use Hondabond and a gasket...one or the other should be sufficient.

Take it all off, clean it up really well, put a nice-sized bead of Hondabond on (or regular-ass RTV gasket maker), let it dry for about 5 minutes, then put it on and get the oilpan good and snug.

I usually tighten my oilpans with my 14.4V Makita impact, and get them nice-n-snug. Just don't overdo it and break a bolt.

Also, trying to paint a header is pointless unless it's some sort of powdercoating such as JetCoat...all that high-temp paint they sell at AutoZone or wherever is still going to come off under extreme heat, such as that of a header.

Are you sure its the oil pan and not the LS/Vtec oil line? I thought mine was leaking and it turned out just to be the oil feed line to the head.

P.S. nice build.

Your should also wait as long as possible to let the RTV sealant cure/dry before you run it(heat it). Overnight if possible.

And surely you tightened them 'enough'. what I mean is, if you tightened it until snug and went for a drive, jack it back up and tighten them again. They might have loosened a little bit.

its the oil pan for sure the vtec line is dry..i wrapped toilet paper around it and checked it for oil.

also this morning i went and checked my work and the fucking gasket tore in the front corner under the T belt.

today i'm going to the store and buying the black rtv AND a blue gasket from them [because i cant afford another oem one]

then i'm going to use just rtv and see if it works alone.....

THEN if that doesnt work ill install the blue gasket with nothing on it.

if that doesnt work i'm going to blow it up

FUCK!

i guess my snug is normally tight.

went to the dealer to try and exchange the one i took off but they wouldnt do it. it looks to be in good shape the guy at the counter told me to use it.[ i told them it was not installed but had a litle tear in between two holes]

he also told me not to use just rtv. i have to put a gasket...

this is the plan:

remove pan
clean block and pan again
apply a thicker amount of black rtv [not to thick]

put gasket on pan
apply more rtv to the top of gasket
install pan had tight
let it sit over night
then ill tighten it 1/4 turn more in the morning

this has to work

-i finished

8:30-10:45

did it as stated above

when i finished went for spirited drive.... no leaks

went and took a shower

small leake on the back corner of T belt side

tightened it a little more and came to the office. hopefully in the morning it will be dry.... lets see

it was dry.

ill recheck when i wet to work.

AND

i got my chip from phereable.... my eld code is gone [and they dont like to disable it] and i dont know why....

it pulls harder and the engine likes the 5k vtec engagement

WoOt wOoT!!!!
