i have a 94 civic eg with 99 gsr swap/ls tranny...the speedometer does not work but when i am getting on the engine it spurts up and down sometimes...does anyone know the possible reasons behind this problem?
 
most likely a loose vss, when mine was loose, it would just turn without catching cuz the mount was broke, and occasionally it catches and works breifly before being spit out again. you may have to get a new one OR if it is, just fab a new mount system for it. That was my solution.
