Can anyone enlighten me on the process of stock steering wheel removal?

It's a 96 Civic, 4 spoke with airbag.

get a ratchet set, take both connections off of the battery so that the airbag doesn't blow up at your ass. then observe the steering wheel and start taking it apart, there should be number bolts, and philips screws. And make sure to upplug the "yellow" connection to your airbad, you can't miss it. If the shit blows up then it's your fault and not mine, or you can buy an helms. Good Luck....

yeah disconnect the battery first, then take off those plastic covers on the left and right sides of the wheel. then you will see like some wierd screws that are star heads. unscrew those and pull it off. i think. it was awile ago when i pulled mine off.

DO NOT forget to dissconnect the SRS.

Do you need a steering wheel tool to remove it? You know the one that kinda looks like a big chicken foot? My "Haynes" doesn't say you do, but you know Haynes manuals suck anyway....
