Suitable replacements for Y7 other than Y8?

High guys, new here and the engine in my car is done (260K miles, D16Y7, Cali smog, 97'LX). I've been shopping for a motor and it seems the Y8 is the logical upgrade and replacement but the Y8's are hard to find (called all over, SoCal area). Can anyone tell me what other D series motors would swap in easily? I've done a ton of reading over the past few weeks and like I said, the Y8 seems the one for me, but I could be wrong. I already have a computer for the Y8 ready to go. I know I could do a B series swap but not really interested in that, those motors are easier to find that's for sure. Any comments appreciated.

D16Z6 is pretty much the same as the Y8 and should work(may need to add or bypass knock sensor). D16A6, D15B VTEC, or DOHC ZC would be an upgrade over the Y7 also. If you need something from the same generation; try the JDM 3-stage D15B VTECs.
