What up all. Im thinking about picking up a 90 CRX B18A. Not A1. I understand this is a JDM engine. I drove it and its all good. I would like to know what the red line is on the engine. I think the crx rpm guage only goes up to 5.5 or so. If anyone could shed some light on the subject i would greatly appreciate it. The crx forum has been no help so far. Also I would like to know if there is a good company online i can look up for engine rebuild parts. Thanks so much.

I'm pretty sure you've got a b18a1. Regardless, it redlines at 6500 RPM. Don't bother rebuilding, its not worth the money and you don't seem to have the know-how anyways.

What the hell are you talking about? He said the car has a B18 engine. No one said anything about the A-series...

Its not about not knowing how to rebuild it. I just dont have the space and tools for it.

How about you try to be more clear about what you're saying. All you said was the "A-series is garbage, go with the B-series". I guarantee you, 99% of people would read that comment and think you were referring to the A-series engines that came in some of the older Accords versus the B-series engines found in many newer Hondas (B16, B18B, B18C, etc.).

If you had said, "The B18A is garbage, go with a B18B instead", that would have been much easier to understand. And, if you want to take this further, you're just plain wrong. The letters PRIOR TO the numbers are the engine series, and the letters AFTER the numbers are the model (i.e., a B18A is a B-series engine, A model), so really you're just plain wrong here.

And no, the B18B isn't really that much better then the B18A. It flows a little better (which accounts for the 10 extra horses) and it's OBD1, but that's pretty much the only difference. Either of them are fine starting points for an engine build.

Anything else you'd like to disagree with?

EDIT: And once again, this thread is two months old...
