swapped s1 with YS1 trans, Need Help

Ok, brand new here but not new to honda's.

I just got a 91 ef sedan with a b20z2 and S1 trans.

The S1 trans grinded and 5th wouldn't work at all.

I got a working YS1 trans with the car. I got a new clutch so the input shaft would fit right. I got it all done and back together today.

The issue(s)

Won't go into ANY gear with car running.
Will go in ALL gears with car off.
Cable adjustment is good.
I started the car in reverse and it would kind of go backwards and would have to be forced out of reverse.

Is the throw out bearing bad? Flywheel bearing? Trans? It could be a number of things looking to narrow it down

So you "can" start it in reverse but it immediately starts to go in reverse even with the foot depressing the clutch?

I would say it is something with clutch engagement (maybe throw out bearing)

Turns out it was the cable adjustment, I loosened it all the back and then slowly tightened back up so there was a 3-5mm play in the arm, OR I'm guessing the pressure was stuck, but either way it's driving and shifting pretty good, clutch grabs good but I'll break it in for a couple hundred miles first.
