Hello I have a honda civic 1997 LX automatic. I want to convert into v tec but keep it auto. I hate stick and Idc what people think. My point is can I put a v tec engine that once belonged to a stick car into a automatic car?If so, do I need a ecu? Where can I get the ecu or if not what engine should I look for that has v tec. I seen a couple of v tec engines that came in a auto car but I never asked

yes im pretty sure you can and yes youll need an ecu. just get one at a local junk yard or on ebay. their might even be some for sale here.

If you want to keep it auto get an auto Y8 with auto trans. The only difference in wiring is the Y8 has one wire for a knock sensor, 3 wires for VTEC, and the Y8 engine harness only has one O2 sensor plug on it. Also the Auto Y8 has a 3 wire IACV like the Y7, but the manual Y8 has a 2 wire IACV.
