hey guys were starting to tear down my buddies MX-3 to put in a KLZE 2.5v6 out of a mx-6 , where just wondering if it will bolt directly up to the 1.8 v6 trans or will we have to get the tranny out of a mx-6 to work..if anyone knows a forum where i could get more information it would be greatly appreciated ...

Nope. Won't work, you'll need the KLZE's transmission. (Or it's USDM KL03 counterparts transmission). Where'd you get the engine only from? From my understanding the KLZE is the JDM 2.5L sixxer.

I bet you could sell that 1.8L sixxer for some cash though, I known a few guys on FEOA that wouldn't mind having the worlds smallest V6.

The engine adds enough extra to the width (read: Length) of the whole thing to be made up for in engine mounts - but the transmission is going to share space with the inner fender well.

Can't say the MX3 ever did anything for me, even in it's high po configs. The NX2000, however, makes my nipples hard.

Both are categorically the same.

I don't think anyone wants to know about you cutting glass with your nipples, bro. :)

***Side note...not to get away from Steves nipples***

Yes, the 1.8 tranny will bolt on the KL...you can use either the stock 1.8 flywheel (lighter) or get a new one.

I was looking into this swap a few years ago...I'm pretty sure you can only get a lightweight flywheel for the 2.5, you just need to get the clutch that matches whichever one you go with.

thanks...keeping the 1.8 tranny will def save alot..were going with an xtd stage 3 clutch or whichever company we can find that makes on for the trans...

Really? Someone was telling me about doing that swap and the 1.8 didn't have the same bolt pattern as the 2.5 tranny casing. Where'd you find out this information?

Yeah, the 1.8's bolt up...swapping one into a 1.6 is brutally difficult though

heres a good/detailed guide for the 1.8-2.5 swap...no pictures, but he's very thorough

Maybe I was thinking of the wrong swap. That's a butt load of reading, so I'll take your word for it and update my notes. :)

I wonder if the BPD8 (91-96 Escort GT) transmission would bolt up to the KLZE, it's all in the Mazda Familia.

nah...thats the Protege motor/tranny counterpart

same displacement....different animal

I'd like to see someone cram the Miller Cycle 2.3 in a MX3, still a ZE block meaning possibly same mounts......that'd be tits

My mx3 has the klde (same block as klze) ant the trans fit just fit from the 1.8

Its ok, cause it was 3 years to the day. Congratulations, You didnt look as stupid as some noobs, and you figured it out on your own. You're gonna go places kid. :D:D:D
