I have a spare 91 civic hatchback ecu should i swap it into my 90 CRX hf? Are there risks to the engine? Would it improve performance? Would it degrade reliablility?

if the one you have works, and was made for the car, its the best choice you have.

Isn't the HF MPFI? If so, you shouldn't try to put a normal hatch DPFI ECU in- it wouldn't work.

It's not going to help you any at all if it's a stock DX ECU.
