I was just wondering if this is normal for a 99 ITR on a P73. Probably is, but it looks like its reving higher than honda says it should. The cluster is a 99 EX cluster.

Photo of Tach

well if it th p72 is STOCK then the rev limiter and the fuel cutout should be around 8200..... unless if its chipped then its most likely the gauge cluster.

The tach in my Escort did that once... i was revving through each gear and suddenly it just dropped to the tab... later on the speedo did that too... it was wierd.

I had a ctr in my 97 ex. My tach would go a little to high also. I think that the higher the tach read the more it was off. But in your case it seems a bit extreme.

I'll get a tach on it tomorrow and run it up again and see if it matches or if its just the cluster reading wrong. The idol seems to be about right. I'll open up my ECU and snap a shot of it and see what you guys think. I wouldn't know what to look for as far as chipping goes.

It has reved like that from day one. Always goes that high. Idols proper and and seems to run strong up until the fuel cutoff. Anyway like I said ^^^ I'll take a look at that stuff tomorrow.

to do what? got it but wtf?

got it...but what is my final drive ratio? 99 ITR Tranny...or I guess all my ratios...I'll try to search for them

final drive is 4.785 if it's JDM, I'm assuming it is since ther was no 99 US ITR... I believe the gears are in the ref section.

so is the 98+ ITR tranny only better for lower rpm's on highway? same ratios for lower gears, does that mean it should have the same acceleration as the older trannys? or at least through 3rd?

cool...so judging off another photo I have of a lower gear at about the same RPM, thats spinning at 8900 rpm, which is still high for that motor. Oh well, it hasn't broke on me yet.

thanks guys!!

ahem...

sounds liek a ground on your gauge cluster. mine flickers every once in a while. flickers as in gauges jump around and shit.

well, not the actual GAUGE....but you get the idea.

either that, or my gauge cluster is cursed. either one wouldnt surprise me.

Its really stable all the way up there. I've got video of it too...just as smooth as could be untill it pops off the rev limiter. Its stable down low too. Anyway, I'm getting a real tach and I'm going to check it out.
