Hello,

Sort of dumb question. I was wondering if there is a way I can test an engine outside the car?

I am planning on installing a K20A engine in my 2002 Honda Civic. Before I install it, I would like to rebuild the engine. I want to rebuild it so I can add a few things and to learn more about engine building. I would like to know if there is a way to test this engine prior to me installing it in my car. I have been told that I just need to check the compression but that will not tell me if there is a sensor that is bad. Anybody has any ideas?

Thanks,
R

unless you have an engine dyno, its not going to work.

you'd need radiator and fluids, ecus, and sensors, etc etc.

Yup. It's not a carbureted V8 that can be started on the ground with a little gas and a battery. That would be nice though.

i think the most important thing is to bolt that fucker down. no way in hell am i starting an engine on the ground lol

So what would you suggest that I do to test the engine (as much as possible) before I install it?

Thanks again,
R
