Car: Buy something you can afford. Cash. No, its not going to be pretty.

Make a monthly car payment to yourself in a savings account. Every month, just like you would had you purchased a car via credit. Drive said car until the wheels fall off. Check out your car account. Instead of going into debt and paying interest, you are saving for a new car and being PAID to do it via interest. Trade in that piece of shit and get a decent $8000 car. Do the same thing. After several years, you'll be paying cash for $30k cars. Making money on it the whole time, not paying interest, and getting a kick ass deal on the purchases because you are paying cash.

Only one thing. You really don't get better deals because you are paying cash. We make more money if you finance. I love when people say this but it just isn't true. In my work I give everyone the same deals cash or not.

If you have cash, you have the dealer by the nuts. Not the other way around. He can't bullshit you one way or the other. Its 100x easier to negotiate a price when you have cash.

maybe thats the way it works at your dealership, but i know for a fact that cash talks...
ask your boss if he'd rather have a 30k loan or 27k cash
lets see what he says

^ That answer is easy. 30k loan. More gross (on the vehicle itself and the back end)and it's not like you are borrowing our money. You are borrowing it from some bank. We get the full amount either way it might just take a few extra days. I can understand a small dealer wanting cash so they can pay the tax on the vehicles sitting there every month. This is a bigger (and very profitable) dealer so we don't operate on a shoe string every month like a lot of them. Now there is also the age factor. Most sales people do not want to deal with younger people. It sucks but so does the credit of 99% of people under the age of 25. So yes Money talks there just for the fact that if you have cash they know they can sell you something as opposed to you wasting their time.

Prime example. I work here. I had taken in a 2001 S2000 with 35k miles on it. My customer traded it for an SRT4 neon, i don't fucking know why. We took it in for $12,900. By the hand book I should have been able to buy it for $13,500 + tax/fees. I had the money in hand, sort of. I had went to my credit union and all I needed was the buyers order and they would have printed me a check (the same day the vehicle came in). This is the same as having cash. They wouldn't sell it to me. They let it sit for over a month until they got a buyer for a bit more money and he financed.

Maybe it is just my dealer, but I don't see why any dealer would settle for less money. If they can make more here they will. Sucks for me but the owners make a fuck ton of money at this place so I understand the way it works.

So what do you guys think? The market hit bottom yet?

House passes historic financial rescue plan - Oct. 3, 2008

And yet the partisan hackery will continue, and people are still going to vote for the shitbags Osloba and McStain. Fuck it, the American people deserve what they are about to get for being mindless sheeple.

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.
The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a communist government.
In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'
The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke.
'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs that are used to the free corn start to come through the gate to eat, and then you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.
Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.
The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc, etc, etc. While we continue to lose our freedoms - just a little at a time.
One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free Lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

rep for you

Whats stupid is the first time it didn't pass because elections are coming up and no one wanted to piss off the voters.

Umm, would that be the voters a.k.a. "people" who they are supposed to be representing the best interest thereof?

So, their job is to represent the opinion of their people, but they just went against all of it because the president said so.

I like bush, but this is fucked. Its a quick fix that is going to fuck our economy even worse in the long run. The dollar bill will significantly drop in value because of this. This also teaches the big wigs that they can fuck around and tweak the books however the hell they want, because the government will step in and pay the bill when shit hits the fan. I for-see this mortgage shit happening all over again in a few years, because clearly you can make all the shitty loans you want with no real repercussion.

We need to toss our whole fucking government in the trash can and start over. Get real senators who are puppets of the people. The people hold the strings and do the speaking. Toss all the lobby groups the fuck out. If the people say no, that means no. Not "no, unless you slip me half a million under the table".

The senators need to be working 40+ hours a week, every week. They can have weekends off. They can even have Christmas. But other than that, no breaks for months on end, no "I work 3 days a month" bullshit. And they need to be paid $80k/year. Period. Hourly wage, too. They don't work it, they don't get it. They get caught getting bribes or taking "gifts" we send their asses to prison for life.

Bills need to have one agenda per bill. Not, "We'll boost education funding if you sign this bill, but also attached are eleventy billion other things that you wouldn't agree with any other fucking way."

I could go on and on for months.

America is not stupid. They're just slow. This whole debacle has been a lesson for just about everybody. Now we know what "Deregulation" really means, now we understand what can happen when we shoot the dice by making assets into liabilities.

Notice how privatizing Social Security isn't being mulled much anymore.

I am as infuriated about this bailout as you are, HOWEVER I understand that we've been put between a rock and a hard place by the corporate fatties who have had so much fun while the watchful eye of the regulators (our gov't... the industry referee) has been pulled away. No, the government should NOT bail these bastards out. But again, if they don't, we're all screwed.

The execs and CEOs call this "Plan B".

My problem with all of this is pretty simple. We have a bunch of people running around claiming they are for reform. They are against earmarks blah blah blah. And then everyone votes in favor of this piece of legislation????? And to top it off, the same people that voted against it voted for it after they added a shit load of pork.

Where are the hearings in regards to all of this? Oh there are no hearings because there are a lot of Republicans AND Democrats that had a hand in this mess.

This whole situation is a huge fucking joke, I have zero respect for anyone in government. The really sad part is, that after the presidential election people will get complacent again. The next time they have local and state elections they will go right back to voting for the same people that helped get us into this mess. Because every last bit of this is all Bush's and company's fault...... Everything is going to change when he is gone!

Revolt!

That's the only way the government will change. No way the politicians would agree to something that requires them to actually "work". If anything, a overhaul is needed where we can start from scratch.

No, the government should NOT bail these bastards out. But again, if they don't, we're all screwed.

So you are buying the fearmongering too huh? I am sure some people would be screwed, but someone is going to be screwed either way, with the bailout, instead of the people that caused the problems it's the taxpayer. Putting another bandaid on it is NOT going to fix it, it is just selecting who isn't going to get fucked as bad. Socializing the debit, and privatizing the profits, typical washington solution.
