They're great boots no doubt, but any steel toe will tear the shit out of your feet if you do a lot of cross country hiking. I wear Red Wing steel toes at work and my feet look like they have leprosy.

That's a function of Red Wings. I have rockports with steel toe, and I love them. I walk over 10 miles a day, and I work in an office (I go out at night all the time). Most comfy shoes there are . Steel toe too.
