How fucking ironic... A customer of my father has an 02 gti with 11k miles on it. The elderly couple decided they didn't need 4 cars, lol. He's going to try and work out a deal with them so I have something a bit more reliable when I go to school. I <3 my honda and it is reliable, but you guys know what I mean. I won't be tempted to work on this and that with a VW because I'd end up joining a VW forum and going gay. Hell, I hear you can't turn a bolt on one of those unless you limp your wrist.

I have a VW GTI and the thing is the biggest POS in the world. I hate this thing soo much. I can't find the right parts at the dealership or the parts store and the ones I can are crazy expensive. I'd try to sell it but I can't until I get my civic done. I spent like $300 on a new rotor new brake pads and a new caliper because one of the pads fell off and it fucked up the rotor.

keep your ek hatch. those things r sweet. ek hatches are my favorite civics by far.

as far as who owns what and vws being gay i think its rediculous. if you like the car drive it. all these negative comments about vws remind of how muscle car guys would call civic owners ricers.

practically speaking, however, (cheap parts, reliability etc.) a honda would be my choice. so what if you may have to put some effort to make it quicker and more comfortable.

:werd: I used to have an 04 Golf. I loved that thing but I traded it in for my Mazda 5 so I have room for the kids. That car never gave me problems. Granted, I didn't modify it but I never had some of the problems that a lot of Jetta owners had.

Calling VW owners gay and stuck up is a pretty bold statement. Is it fair to say Honda owners are street racing retards who cause accidents? In most cases i guess you can say yes lol but not all Honda owners are like that.

To the OP, have you driven a chipped 1.8t GTi yet? It's one wild fucking ride :D;)

    I detect a pattern

Riding my bike, I have a list of the "most hated on the road":

any car with teenage girls in it
any car with teenage males in it
any car with teenagers in it
    fat black women
    tinted minivans
    modified Hondas.

The hondas ALWAYS try to race me. They tailgate me, and cut me off to taunt me. The teenagers are just stupid as fuck and have to share a molecular bond with my fairing and the big mommas just think I'm in their damned way.

I couldn't have said this any better, except here in Idaho I have to put the red necks with lifted trucks on the list also. I drive both a 89' CRX Si and a 91' GTi 16v. Parts are a little more for the VW, but I love both my cars. Drive what you like, working on the 1.8ts are not that bad at all, just like any new other new car.

yeah i checked it out, but i dont feel like paying the used car salesman an extra 7k on top of my car, id rather just scoop up a gsr swap real quick.

2 of my boys from college have a mk4 and a mk5 gti, there both pretty quick, chipped exhaust and other mods. but the one has the program to run 100octane so hes going to dyno it at school and see what it puts down. actually one of them raced a member from this board...

The slack in the shifter is notorious in VR6's. I drove an older VR6 and you could wobble the shifter a good 2inches in any direction even when the car was in gear
