ticking noise?

i have a 97 civic hx thats making a weird ticking noise. it does it anytime over 2500 rpms but if i floor it it stops for a few seconds then does it again. if its ticking and i hit a bump it stops for a second and goes right back to it. ive drove about 600 miles with it doing this and cannot figure out what it is. im leaning towards a wrist pin but how can i be sure?

also the only way to get it to do it without a load is to feather it at about 2500. it also does it when i let off the gas to shift.
