transmission question

    swapping out a YS1 transmission to see why it wont go in gear, i need to know if i have to take the starter completely out of the car or can i leave it connected to the transmission ?

    I don't think I pulled mine when I pulled the tranny, It should be fine where it is. If not, It's only like 3 bolts, not a big deal.

    Well Jason, its not a YS1, its an S1.

    Mike - THE STARTER only has 2 bolts actually holding it in, and then two electrical connections...

    and finally take it completely out.

    well since we just pulled it. there are four bolts on the top that go from the tranny to the block (three on the front top half, the other is under the starter) and there are also two more on the bottom that go from the block to the tranny, and the two bolt that come from the rear mount to the tranny.

    and yes, you do have to remove the starter.
