i cant shift my car into first gear. Second is a little difficult but all the rest are fine. anybody know whats wrong?

is it a `90 civic? if it is it has a cable clutch, could be the cable isn't adjusted right, get a manual for the car will tell you how to adjust it, couldn't hurt to try, could be worn out clutch.
