The motor blew runnin at like 2k. Had oil, head gasket wasnt blown no oil and coolant mixture. The oil and coolant got into the sleeves when we pulled the head. Ill post some more pics of the block, crank, and other rods when I get the motor out and taken apart.

I'm yankin the motor today. I should have some pics of the internals and better pics of the block and what-not later tonight.

Do ya now?

Did you also know the stock crank is good for pushing upwards of 500 hp?

The "walls" are not weak and stock can hold 250 +hp
on a b18b1 probably i dont like LS.so u might be right but not about b18a1 Walls ARE weak bro weakest for b series. and crank reminds me of b16 crank

B18A=the same thing as B18B. Different OBD and thats it.

And sorry I havent go the other pics up yet Im a water pipe broke the other day so the garage was flooded and Im lazy. Ill try to get em up this week.

actually the obd isnt the only difference. its a different head (stamped p73), with better cams, and slightly more aggressive tune.

B18A1 - 90-91 - OBD0(=90-91) 130hp/111lb ft tq
B18A1 - 92-93 - OBD1(=92-93) 140hp/117 lb ft tq
B18B1 - 94-01 – OBD1(=94-01) 142hp/127lb ft tq

ur close p73 is a type r man- OBD- i think its p74 and p75. for LS i dont care for nonvtec so im not sure.
OBD=OnBoardDiagnosis.
B18a1 cranks are Smaller then (94-01) i dont care what u think u know. b18 are the best blocks to boost on but still its smarter to go with a B18b1.also Walls of the block on a early b18a1 are weak as shit so stfu whoever says diff. and 250 hp yay i Got horsepower Torque is what gets you going guy.

you are correct sir lol. i was lookin at somethin pertainin to an itr on a diff thread and got em confused. p75 is the b18b ecu. and if your goin non vtec b18b1 ftw btw :D

Finally got it apart.

The pin from the grenade.

The motor has been apart before, but not by me. The gally plugs where drilled out, and replaced with screws and welded. The pistons looked super clean, they still had the mill marks on them.

I was ony going like 35-40 when it scattered. Whoever had it apart before me didnt torque the crank bearings right. Some came loose a lot easier than others so I dont know.

Looks like a spun bearing to me. Happened to me before, but mine took a dump @ 9000 rpm in 1st gear :)

Yeah, the crank bearings were pretty galled up. Even though you cant see it in the picture, all the threads were stripped off that rod bolt too, so thats what I figured did it, that and cause it was laying in the oil pan, not in pieces like most of the other stuff.

P.S. What the heck is up with the welded gally plugs?

cams are differen not only difference tho.

the tuning is also slightly different as well. but yes the b18a1 and b18b1 are the same. makes sense right, the 90-91 obd0 a1, 92-93 obd1 a1, and 94-01 b18b have all the same hp and tq ratings.............

We really arent talking about horse power, tuning, cams, the block is the exact same on the A as the B.
