Anyone familiar with this trouble code. The vehicle is a 2000 Odyssey. Had Autozone get the code for me and it was p1705. This is related to the transmission but was wondering if anyone had any more specifics or had experienced this one themselves.

Thanks

P1706 Open in Transmission Range Switch Circuit

This is related to: no gear position inputs

Either a faulty sensor, or there's something wrong on the shifter mechanism it sounds like, no? I'm not very familiar with automatic transmissions, so that's the best I can give you...

I ran into this on another forum... don't know how accurate it is though:

you might have to replace the transmission range switch, or have a short in the wiring. or maybe it's a goof, and nothing is permanently wrong.

remove the #6 fuse for 10 seconds, and replace. drive to 37mph in D and stop. shut the car off. start it up. do the same thing (drive to 37 and then stop) and see if the light comes back on and it does the rough shifting stuff.

if so, you probably need to replace the switch. lots of electrical tests needed, blah blah blah.

this is an abbreviated version of what the helms manual says.
