trying to change alternator on a 97 dx hatch

cant get the thing out of the engine bay now... do I have to take the brake fluid resevoir off from the fire wall??? this is rediculous!!
Any clues would help cause chilton suxs an I cant drive anywhere to pick up something better

take the alternator bracket off of the back of the engine block, then drop the alternator down.

trying from the top I cant get it cause of the brake fluid resivoir which sticks out of the firewall about 6 inches and when I try from the bottom the cv axle is in the way and I still cant get it out

So logically, take out the axle or the master cyl, i havent had this problem before, not on a stock motor/stock car, by that I mean not swapped.
