I'm thinking of going turbo, but I want to keep a/c and p/s. Is there a certain type of manifold I need, or can the turbo be mounted either way? Before you ask, I have searched, but there are very few threads with pics of such a setup on a D series.

turbo can be mounted both ways. most manifold makers will make a ac/ps compatible manifold if you want for a little extra.
i have a full kit if your interested pm me.

If I were you - I would purchase a turbo kit from Greddy. They are name brand, and i've heard a lot of good things about their turbo kits. You can go to their website and check them out, they are built so that you can keep your A/C and P/S. I think they use the 15G turbo too - so its pretty small, but gives you power very very quickly if you go with..say a t3/t4 or similiar turbos you will experience turbo lag. If you want to - you can also check eBay...BE WARE THOUGH. Lots of cheap knock off's on eBay. However, I have found Greddy kits on eBay with a buy it now price of $1,000.00. and its legit. if you dont like doing from Greddy's main site or eBay...You can always build you own kit..which I recommend...thats what I did, and I love my setup! but - there are many way to go about keeping your AC/PS. hope I helped

I don't have any pictures of my set up due to the fact that I've never gone out to buy a digital camera. By the way - I think your making the right decision by building your own turbo kit. I built my own kit and it was very inexpensive. As much as people tell you to stay away from ebay - you can actually find some good deals on people who are getting rid of their turbo and manifold. There is one on there right now for $100.00 its a greddy manifold and T25 turbo. You just have to make sure its a legit deal, e-mail them and ask them questions. However, you can just go out and buy new parts. It's up to you! I have a few used parts but I made sure they were in excellent condition before I bought them. When buying used turbo parts you ahve to be careful because you never know how the previous owner treated them. so like i said..ASK QUESTIONS. I can help you piece together your own kit. What are your Horsepower goals? that will depend on how deep into the build you'll have to go!! tell me your HP goals and we'll go from there

i'm gonna try to stay around 200 whp on the D, since it's an automatic tranny. i know that's not ideal, but when i blow this setup up (cuz i know eventually something's gonna break) i'm just gonna swap in a b18 and GSR tranny and put the turbo on that!

alright, well at least with 200hp you dont have to worry about buying forged internals. However, if the engine blows and your going to swap the GSR - why not just put the GSR in now, sell your D-series...and then save up money to put the turbo on the GSR. that B18 is a great motor and has lots of potential...If you can buy that to swap in when you blow a motor, then get it over with now and put it in. If I were you I'd do that and wait on the turbo for a bit!

good point, but again, it's just something i wanna do. that, and i'd have to pay someone else to do the swap and i don't have that much cash right now. i really want to do the work myself too, just to learn. that's why i wanna do it on the d first, to get experience so i don't have to learn the hard way on a B18!

well, you picked a good motor to start on. Rather the D than the B. besides, might as well have some fun while you can - as soon as you get a taste of boost your going to be wanting more.

There's a lot of ac and ps friendly turbo mani out there! Most are cast iron though but I did a set up exactly like yours with a Rev hard mani.. It's the downpipe that needs to be fab to fit the ac compressor! [IMG]

NO problem! It's my friends car but I did the fabricating! I also did it to my girls eg8 with a b16, also with ac and ps also! It just matters on the downpipe and the and the manifold!
