I have a 98 Civic HX, MT. It has a 5-wire O2 sensor that I think is bad. I want to replace it, but I don't want to spend $300 for an OEM one. The universal ones cost about $60 but only have 4 wires. Is it possible to connect a 4 wire universal O2 sensor to the original 5-wire harness?

Thanks!

I've looked at it already. I'm not sure if I understand it completely, but it seems like the 5 --> 4 wire conversion is because the new engine needs a 4 wire sensor. My car, however, needs a 5 wire sensor. So, I guess my question is, will a 4 wire sensor work with a car that needs a 5 wire sensor? My understanding is that the 5 wire sensor is a wide band sensor. I'm not sure exactly what this all means, but does the extra wire carry extra information that the computer needs that a 4 wire sensor does not have?
