is it an NA 572?

Cause there's a guy here in CB with an old willy's... a goddamn WILLYS... with a 572 in it. On top of that the 572 has a 3-stage nitrous sytem.

Dunno what the guy needs it for anyway, he's like 80 y/o...

I want to see one of these things blown and see what they are actually capable of from GM

ever hear the phrase "10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag?"

By the way, these Camaros... what kind are they ? Are you wasting time on a Berlinetta, or are these cool ones ?

I love 1988 RS 5 speeds.
[post=519894]Quoted post[/post]

Berlinettas were V6s or some other small engine.
[post=519930]Quoted post[/post]

Not always. Some berlinetas cam with the carbarated 305.

And if the Camaro came with a 350 in it, then it's an automatic and why fucking bother with that pos anyway? It can't be worth more than 10 bux, just go buy a new one.....

You talk about Automatics like some of the fastest Fbody's aren't automatic. If you want times get a tranny cooler and a shift kit. Then have fun with your automatic and consistent track times.

Maybe he meant newer one, such as 98+ with the LS1 engine. I personally wouldn't mess with LT1's. They are pretty much junk to me. I have a friend that use to talk so much trash about my '01 Mustang GT when I first got it, and when we took our cars (he had a '94 Camaro Z28) to the track I spanked him. After I ran a 13.916 in my stock GT he finally start talking crap about it. His car's fastest time was 14.2. I'm not saying all LT1's are crap, but the LS1 is so much better... but the new LS2 is better than both. What are you building the car towards? Just to get it running or dragcar, etc?

No, what I'm saying is, buy a different 305 t.p.i. camaro with a blown up motor and a 5 speed for cheap and then throw a 350 in there with the fuel injection. Cheap, easy, and fun. :)

or an early Z-car... :ph34r:
[post=519560]Quoted post[/post]

That falls under the handfull of other cars..... :p

Actually, I'd rather swap the sr20det than a 350. It's lighter, the power is about the same, it's more original, and you can EASILY hit 500 hp. Plus my heart still beats 4 cylinders at a time.... :D
[post=519625]Quoted post[/post]

I'm not swapping in a 350. 350 swap = child's play. I'm aiming for a 460.
[post=519826]Quoted post[/post]

460 is ford and 454 is chevy and 440 is mopar

otherwise my friend has a 68 camaro with a 408 and it is all aftermarket with nos and he has to get his nhra car now. he did a 10 flat on a 125 shot with no problem in fontana's 1/4 mile and here is a pic of his car

ok, didn;t know this thread was getting responses...

first off, thanks for the spelling correction :fuckyou3: :p

other questions...
they are the shitty body style, i think the 350 was an '84 and the 305 TPI is a '87

the 305 heads bolted onto the 350 block, and the car started...
turns out it had a bad injector all along, and cyl's 3 and 5 had the plug wires switched...

and i only did this cause some dumb bastard with $$$ told me thats what he wanted...

so waiting on the injector, then getting this pile of shit out of my life...

and yes, its an auto tranny with an aftermarket cooler, why he put so much money into the car is beyond me, but if he's got the $$$ i'll do the work...

yeah thats a good idea, i'd still say stay away from the LT1 engine though. I remember him always having the distributorless problems, he's always had problems with that and always said it was the biggest bitch to work on. he also had 2 water pump failures. always broke the transmission mount after hard driving. His z28 was just pure crap, yet he still has it lol. His sister's 97 transam would cut off if your rpms were low but rolling at 40mph. My stang will stay on in 5th as long as i dont come to a near stop. I don't know if he's just had bad luck with LT1's or this is a common problem. I havent heard of any LS1's having these problems, but then again they are much newer, and most people don't abuse their shit as bad as he does.

13.9 in a stock 01 GT? That's fucking excellent. There's onlybeen 2 other instances I've seen that happen. The normal is between 14.0-14.6, which is fair play to any LT1... and instant death to an LS1.

yeah i haven't beaten an LS1 yet, i was close one time where i had a fender on him throughout the whole strip and at the last 10 yards his camaro just flew right past me. it was definately a good race.

The chevy 350s just boggle my mind. My buddies LT1 that he put in his caprice (wierd i know) has not idled right since the first day its been in there. It is throttle body injected and not carbed (doh) and we have put months into finding out whats wrong. Replaced ECU, Dist, Fuel lines, Injectors, Throttle body. We cant find anything wrong with it. Now the LS1 Camaro down the street. Its got a carb conversion IM and RAN GREAT from day 1.

...wtf y0. 383 = 350 block, 400 crank.

The 377 is better than the 383 anyway.
[post=519492]Quoted post[/post]

383=350+400crank+.60 over

BTW does anyone know if old carbed 350 heads will fit on a 305 out of a 99 silverado? i can get a 305 short block from a friend for my truck, but not sure if i can throw the heads and carb stuff on there.

I didnt think the 99's had the 305. I thought just 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 and whatever other bigger sizes they came in.

yea they did have it. they had the 305 or 350, i think that was the last year

hmmm i thought 99 silverado's had 4.8L too. i think 98 chevy vans still had 305's so its possible. not sure if the heads will fit on it, i'm sure you coan find a full 350 long block for cheap as hell, just look around in the classified parts section in your local newspaper.
