Depends on when the complaints occured. If people complain on the 4th they need to have firecrackers lit in their mouths. The days before and after though, I agree. Ban them and propose a fine for anyone caught lighting them off.

Fireworks that shoot off like bottle rockets were finally legalized here last year.

I dont see the point of banning ALL fireworks. Viriginia's laws state we can have anything that will project in the air, or anything like a m-40 m-60 . We can only buy the sparklers , Lil cans to light up and make more noise and lights. None of the good shit , you know. How many people where hurt this past July 4th. in your state ?

Why even bring it up without reason ?

In Stockton, all fireworks ARE illegal. Even safe and sane ones. One county over, you can have safe and sane ones. We just go out by the lake and light off our stuff. Cops have never bothered us, nor are we using any that are legal in the first place. I guess it's because they're too busy with people in the city to send a Sheriff out to where we are.

    I vote no for fireworks.

Here is how I got there:

Fireworks are tools for entertainment. They hold the same allure all year round as they do on the 4th of July. The 4th of July, for most people, is the day "lots of explosions go off". Fireworks have lost their original meaning, mostly. Town displays are also backed up by reverence of the day we gained our independence from British rule 231 years ago. It's the day we were established as an independent country.

When fireworks are placed in private hands, and you liberals ought to love this, they are more likely to be used as Weapons than as entertainment devices. It's like placing small grenades in everyone's hands for about 1 week a year. Same thing.

I think that you should be able to buy fireworks for the same regulations, and reasons, as you may be able to buy model rocket engines. You need certifications and permits to buy these, and you should have a history of building rockets and belonging to organizations.

The Fireworks thing isn't a year round type of hobby or entertainment. If it were, I would be far more open to allowing it. Fireworks, for the most part, are a once a year type of scofflaw sin - people do it because everyone else is.

Since when do you need certs and permits to buy model rocket engines?:confused:

Even if it passes what is it going to stop. You can drive to the next town and buy them. When all fireworks were illegal in CT who did it really stop? Way back in the day I used to go to a 2nd cousin's, who was a cop, house for fireworks.

On the modelling series, (And I'm not exact here) a's, double a's, b's and the like are easy to get. The CCC and the big boys require some sort of cert or training or endorsement.

    I was thinking that myself.

I've never heard of this before and it certainly is not true in New Jersey. We used to build and shoot off model rockets all the time. We would just stop by the hobby store and pick up whatever size engine we needed for the model.

Again, there are many levels of solid propellant rocket engines.

i voted  for the ban
but even if they do ban them it wont matter much to me
i dont buy fireworks in CT... the ones they sell here flat out suck ass
ooooooohhhh snakes and sparklers... fuckin YAY!
regardless of the legal status of fireworks in CT i will continue to travel out of state to get good shit
i wish i could find bigger stuff a bit easier (m80s, m1000s, 3-6" mortars, etc...) i could make my own... but id rather not take the chance of getting caught with home made highly explosive stuff... especially home made highly explosive stuff that is able to propel itself several hundred feet... Guantanamo Bay is way too fucking hot for me
