Ok, so your ECU monitors oil pressure and engages vtec, then will cut it out if the pressure gets too low from low oil levels, right? My question is, does a VAFC over ride the ECU and engage vtec even if the oil level is too low? I am wondering because I checked my oil and it seemed really low, but vtec is still fully functioning, and the VAFC says it is engaging. Maybe I was on a slight grade and the oil was laying back in the pan, but seemed too low even for that.

it was my personal finding due to being a lazy ass, that vtec will engage even when low. i had only about a quart in my motor when it started to get sporadic.

as for your question, the vafc doesn't mess with the oil pressure sensor in the back of the block, so i'm not sure. good question
