I was given a set of 1983-1984 VW GTI wheels that I was hoping to use on a Civic that I bought a few weeks ago.
They are the right bolt pattern (4 x 100) and offset (+38) but they don't seem to center properly on the hub, with noticeable orbital runout and vibration (I ran the engine in 4th gear with the right front off the ground, wheel only, no tire). I know that when mounted on a VW, the center of the wheels fit snugly to the hub (hubcentric mount) and am thinking that no matter what I do, the wheels won't be centered by the wheel studs and lug nuts. I've tried the oem Civic lug nuts and generic aftermarket acorn lug nuts.
Anybody know if there's a solution? I saw BMW 318 14 x 6 wheels on a Civic today and BMWs are hubcentric mount too so I'm hoping...
