I'm still looking for a perfect pair of plugs. The plugs that I've tried give me sharp pain from the way they sit (Like, really sharp pain). The (what I call) cigarette filter types are nice, but they fall right out.

I am trying to check out those $110 earbud headphones, actually, because they have a anti-noise processor and they supposedly fit really well (And are suggested for airplane flights, another SERIOUS pain that I experience)

I like the orange plugs you get at CVS, they reduce sound by 33 and are cheap. I have $140.00 custom ear plugs I wear at work for the kitchen, they make filters for them for people who ride but I have no desire to use them, I like the basic cheap plugs for riding.

The ones I use look like this

The trick is to make sure you get them fully seated into your ear. Once they're in, they're good to go. I dislike most every other cheap plug they just dont feel right or filter enough sound.

p.s I use the ones with out the string. =)

Again, it's all about the "first bike" thing. So many people overdo it that they either end up really hurt, or really disappointed.

Like owning an MV Agusta. after "I,Robot" everyone wanted one, and then they all came back because they found out it takes a witch doctor to start one up.

havent been on awhile, anyway. we were talking bout it at work and my buddies like 250's are so gay just start with a 600. i think it would be a stupid choice. either way i get my dirtbike today 96kx125, so ill practice my skills with that for the time being

What do you think would be a stupid choice ? Because if you're agreeing with your homosexual friend, then you're a tool.

a 600 isn't a "stupid" choice, but here is why a 250 is a GREAT choice:

If you get a bike that's easy to handle, then you have a lessened chance of dropping it. The Chassis that the 250 is in is what's so great about that combo. If you stop at a stop sign and your bars aren't perfectly straight, it's very forgiving. And a forgiving and easy ride leads to success, and success leads to passion. If you get a larger bike, drop it, or otherwise have a "less than fun" time on it, chances are great that you'll never pick up another bike again. Almost all of my personal friends have fallen into this category.

I was in this category.

If you can find an easy bike to ride with a larger motor, be my guest. Luckily I found my 1985 Ninja 600 (Which is VERY similar to the 250 chassis). But they are rare ass bikes, and I have yet to see another. But KTM makes a sport bike that's very light and easy to control - the bad here is that it costs about $12k.

A Hyosung makes a 250, but it's heavy as hell and ungodly unstable at low speeds. This is one of those bikes that I would say "Forget it". It's not just the engine power that makes a starter bike a "starter bike".. it's the whole frame and design. The Hyosung (UM) 250 is a piece of garbage for a novice rider.

The Ninja 250 is a classic, and is regarded as simply the best. Now with the 08 250 coming out, I am thinking of going BACK to that displacement because that chassis is going to be a blast. Ear to Ear smiles all the time.

To this day I have owned and sold 7 bikes.... I bought my 250 as my second bike and still have it.... the only and I mean ONLY thing it gets tired on are REALLY long road trips.

Like 500mile long road trips.... it gets uncomfy.

I will say it 100 times over and over again... best bike I have ever owned.

I'm 5'6 and 163 pounds, my first sport bike is an 94 zx9r.. a little to high for me but I got it lowered... I'm like everyone else, get a 600 or something a little bigger. Keep it safe.

Gsx-r 600 to start. I see some Gsx-r 750's beating most 900's out on the road today.

I would hope so since newer GSX-R 750 should put out more power then the older 900s. Come to think of it most new 600s also should beat out a 900.

GSX-R600 will run 10s so saying thats a good starter bike....

I can attest to this dude, the ZX9 that he rides is not for an amateur.

My friend's is actually RAISED. He's my height, but he's been riding it for 5 years now. It took that long to get that good on it. I'm 5'6" 135 pounds, the ZX12 that I ride is lighter than my 1986 600GPZ. Modern bikes are simply lighter, have incredible engines and do amazing things.

But regardless of lightweight, the ZX12 is what I drop all the time. It's really wide, and the bars are too far forward for me (My dick is smashed against the "tank" all the time. You can fit two of me in the seat)

Yeah, at first I can't barely put my feet on the ground at the same time, it's kinda to tip toe it all the time, sometime you get leg cramped. My zx9r is old so kinda heavy, dry weight is like 450lbs. One time I dropped the bike in the employee parking lot I can't even lift up the bike, i had one of my co-worker to help me...
