I just read an article in my local paper that says the EPA will be making washing your car in your driveway or the street illegal due to runoff. All washing will have to be done at professional facilities. Anyone else hear about this?

I googled it and looked at my local paper's website and I can't figure out if this will be nationwide or simply limited to my area.

Whether it's true or not, FUCK the EPA. My friend can drive his brand new Rumble Bee getting 8 mpg, but I can't wash my car? Go swallow Drano. Just make sure that your corpse doesn't leak it into any lakes or streams, asshole.

It's already illegal in most of Europe. Welcome to the rest of the world.

Instead of making it illegal, why not just pass legislature that makes all car wash soaps EPA friendly? Would that just not piss enough people off?

I usually take a bowl of soapy water and a pitcher of clean water, rub my car down, then rinse. I only have to get more water like 2 more times. Slow process, but less waste, and more detail.

There's a law being implemented (I think) up here regarding watering the lawn. Says you can't do it between 10 am and 4 pm or something like that. They say its because between those hours, most of the water evaporates before it even reaches the soil.

I think the issue is more with build up of road scum and exhaust fumes.

I could see this going in CA. but not sure how the rest of the country would react.

The sucky part about it is, if they word it as "making new jobs for people" then it might easily get passed.

Ohwell, I tend to wash my Z in my garage with the door shut, I just do it with a rag and a bucket of water.

Ya i doubt it will pass in most places, there is talk however about how much water you use, about putting a limit on it and if you exceed the limit you get charged extra on hydro bill. That to me makes sence cause alot of people do use way too much water, damn teens and their showers.

We will see what the future will bring.

If they passed it here id probably... Still do it and not give a fuck! I only use water to rinse my car after im done washing it with a bucket full of dish soap and warm water.

Plus they should worry more about the mary jane i grow instead of how much soap & water i use. :D

Again I really don't think it has to do with soap, ever watch dirty jobs? one of the shows he went to a bus washing station, his job was not to clean the buses, but the oil traps under the washing pit, all the crap on the bus was washed down below and it would build up.
