So a friend of mine calls me and tells me he ran his prelude w/o oil. He wants to sell it. What are the chances of being able to fix the car? If I bought it would I have to replace the engine or overhaul it? please help!

Does it still run? Hondas are tough lil bastards when it comes to oil starvation. Toss some oil in it and give it a test drive. listen for grinding. watch the temp gauge.

If it was a short drive, there is a chance he didnt fatally wound the motor.

This is assuming there isnt a rod sticking out of the block atm...

i've had some good luck with bringing seized motors back from the dead with no ill effects, other than longevity issues of course

i gave give you lots of suggestions

This dude is a real lazy@ss when it comes to maintenance. He probably only changed the oil like twice the whole year he has owned it. The previous owner had just spent $2400 overhauling that engine! I'll see if I get a chance next week to look at it when I get off school for springbreak.
