im running a 91 hatch w b16a just finished swapping in new exedy clutch n lighnened flywheel get it all back together and wont start! pull the starter again n confirm it works fine. sounds like the starter is hitting but not turning. wondering if i need to get a diff start or if ive got wrong flywheel. flywheel n clutch lined up well n were reportedly for a 94-97 del sol dohc vtec so should be cool
any help would be great
thanx eric

verify that the engine spins freely. put the trans in neutral, then take a 19mm socket and put it on that crank pulley bolt and spin it (counterclockwise! do NOT attempt to turn it clockwise, or tighten, because the timing belt likes to jump teeth when spinning this direction.) if the motor wont turn, figure out why. hopefully your swap is healthy, was it in your vehicle and running before the clutch swap? or is this the first you tried to start it?

its tight but spins and the swap is good ive had her bout 3 yrs n no crazy problems just having clutch issues n decided to change it out

was this a running combo prior to the clutch
first is make sure the engine spins freely as broken rex suggest
does the clutch dis engage ?
your starter spinning out of the car doesn't mean it has sufficant torque to
turn over the motor ( loaded Vs non loaded )

that could very well be. try to jump it with another car. have the other car running when you try to start yours, that will help, especially if your b16 has high compression.
