what motor would you choose?

What would you guys choose.....I've narrowed it down to two different types of setups. Please put all considerations when you give me your opinion. Its down to a ls vtec with a b16 head with itr cams and valvetrain and a ls block, most likely will keep stock bottom, may get itr pistons. Or would you choose a b16a2 swap? Right now I have the head so I would have to get all the other parts. I was leaning towards the ls/vtec until I started thinking about stuff like smog and what I would have to do to get it smogged...what do you guys think?

if you are in cali im pretty sure it is illegal to do head swaps (ie: LS/VTEC or CR/VTEC)

keep that in mind

peoples socialist republic of california = illegal for a headswap, meaning ls/vtec = bunk

since smog is an issue, you're best bet is to get the same yaer or newer than your chassis, b16 from the 99-00 civic si, b18c1 from the same year or newer GSR, or a b18c5 from the same year or newer ITR.
 
yea dude, if ur worried about smog u should deff stay away from building an lsvtec. a b16 will please ur needs im sure. besides, like -Incredib1e- said, lsvtecs are a bitch when it comes to reliabuility.

I decided to go to a new forum to get some other opinions but there are still people like you. Why are you on a forum if your gonna say that? It makes no sense. And I actually did a search but I was pretty tired to look through them all, why the hell am I explaining myself to you anyways? HAHAHHA Btw thanks everyone else for your opinions.
 
Get an Ls, it does have about 20-30 hp less than the b16 but has like 20 lbs more torque. It's alot easier to obtain 20 hp then it is to obtain 20 lbs of torque....unless FI is involed, then you get both.

I would say do an LS swap then go and get the LS passed by a ref. The do what ever the phuck you want to that LS motor. as long as the block # are the same as the bar sticker on your door insert the people at the smog shop are not going to know that it is not a real honda motor that you got approved by the Refs. All the stcker will say is 1.8l 199X Acura motor, and will have the motor serial # on it. It says nothing about DOHC VTEC on the sticker.

and ls/vtec not being reliable that bullshit. i mean theres alot of people out there that take alot of short cuts and thats what causes the motor to blow. you cant expect to put together a 2 cheap parts and no effort and money, and expect it to be a type r killer.

like my motor it has a 2000 itr head and a b18a fully built bottom block, i dont run my shit crazy all the time but its been running good and hard for about a year without any problems. it mainly depends on how well you treat the car and how much effort you put into it. its usally the people that dont have the money to afford a rebuild that research it and do it right!
 
and oh yea..i paid around 4,000 for my complete swap w/ the itr tranny w/lsd. i can kick the shit out of itr's and my motor can handle up to at lease 30 psi of boost. so im already boost ready! so fuck you and yo momma
 
ls/vtec is just as reliable as anything else as long as their built right. when you build like shit you get shit.
