right now i have an h23, i was either planning on adding a h22 head and build from that, but would it be better to just get the whole h22 swap and totally forget about the h23

I don't know too much about the H-series blocks and their pros and cons, but the h23's extra 100cc of disp placementgives it an advantage over the h22. I read that the h23 is also closed deck, so that is a plus. Build the h23, IMO if it can be done cost effectively, meaning no radical alterations of the block or head in order to get them to fit right. I think you'll be ahead money and have a bigger displacement motor. THen you can use the money you saved to rebuild the h23 block with some forged internals and some higher compression.
