What tires and size for my 17'' Rims

I want to get some fun summer tires for my subaru legacy, so I can throw it around the twisties. I have a set of 17'' rims. What size tire should I get, and what brand of tire would you recommend for about $400 for the set.

205's are way too thin for 17's... 215's would be ideal, 225's would be perfect. With that said, 225/40/17 Kumho MX's. Last I checked, American Tire Co. had them for about $87 a tire for 17's. Mounted, balanced, and all the other fee's should put you around $425 or so.
