So I just picked up a '79 Civic Hatchback, CVCC Hondamatic off craigslist for $60.
The block had a rod thrown through it, so I need a new engine. The body is in decent shape.
My question is: should I try and swap something else into this, if so what would be the smoothest? I'm trying to go as minimal as possible for now just so I can get it running. Down the line I would like to go with a 5 speed transmission, but I'll stick with the 'matic for now. I need this running by the end of the month (the deal I made with my wife so she wouldn't take my head off with my other project(s), including a '71 Camaro.
I live in Seattle, so if anyone knows about good pull yards close by, that would help as well. I've worked mostly on early '70s trucks, so the confined space on the civic will be different.
